Loan Forgiveness Programs

Under certain circumstances, the federal or state government will cancel all or part of an education loan.  This practice is called Loan Forgiveness or Redemption. Each program has its own specific requirements.  Generally, loans are forgiven in exchange for performing a service such as teaching or practicing medicine in certain types of communities; serving in the military; or performing volunteer work.

You should contact your lender to see if you qualify for any of the federal loan forgiveness programs.
