Federal Student Loan Repayment - General Information
Get all the information you need to manage repayment of your federal student loans.

Remember, federal student loans must be repaid.

Payments on your federal student loans are made to your lender or servicer. If you are unsure of who your lender is, you can access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).

All federal student loans as of July 2010 have been made through the U.S. Department of Education's Direct Loan Program. For the latest information about managing loans through the Direct Loan Program, click here.

Tip: If you have federal student loans, you can look them up by visiting the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). This website provides important details about your federal student loans, including the lender who holds your loan, how much you owe and more.
HESAA Loan Forgiveness / Redemption Programs

A summary of each program and eligibility requirements is available by clicking on each link: The federal government offers other loan forgiveness programs.  HESAA-held Defaulted Federal Student Loans

It is important that you avoid defaulting on any student loan whether it is a federal student loan or an NJCLASS loan. If you default on a loan, the entire balance becomes due in full immediately.

The key to your future financial health is to talk to your lender to avoid entering default.
